About Herisa

Herisa the Traveler (Herisa Stanislaus, MPH) is a multidisciplinary international spoken word artist, speaker, and educator with years of experience captivating audiences across Europe, the Caribbean, and the United States. With a Master of Public Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and a background in health education, Herisa infuses her poetry with therapeutic and healing qualities, creating work that fosters empowerment, meaningful connection, and social change.

Herisa embodies a rich third-culture experience as a first-generation American, born in Brooklyn, NY, with roots in Grenada and Panama. Her poetry is framed by her experience as a Caribbean American Black woman and explores themes such as societal reflection, Black excellence, travel, and self-love. Her four years living in Spain and Italy profoundly shaped her creative process, exposing her to diverse cultures and inspiring her to write poetry that reflects the beauty and complexity of global connections.

As a performer, Herisa has graced stages in theaters, radio and TV stations, concert halls, and lounges across the globe. Her talents extend beyond performance, she curated and co-hosted in partnership with Hola Magnolia, four Juneteenth Celebrations in Madrid, Spain, uniting the local community, showcasing creativity, and using art as resistance during a historic moment.

In addition to her artistic work, Herisa serves as the Program Manager for Patient Family Education and Communication at a Children’s Hospital, where she focuses on health literacy, strategic planning, and bridging gaps in access to care. She is also the founder of Stanislaus Creative Solutions, a public health consulting and creative arts firm dedicated to developing innovative strategies for health, equity, and impact. Her unique ability to combine public health expertise with creative expression highlights her commitment to fostering empowerment and healing in every space she occupies.
